What is the reason why the water cooled chiller compressor does not start?

What is the reason why the water cooled chiller compressor does not start?

The chiller compressor cannot load. Reason for the malfunction:

If the ambient temperature is too low and the viscosity of the lubricating oil is too high, turn on the oil heater before starting the compressor. Capillary blockage, clean or replace the capillary. The regulating solenoid valve core is blocked, and the solenoid valve coil is burnt out. Clean the solenoid valve core or replace the solenoid valve coil.

Check and clean the internal oil circuit of the compressor if the oil circuit is blocked. If the adjustment piston is not smooth, replace the piston or piston ring. The oil filter is blocked, clean the oil filter (replace if necessary). When the high and low pressure difference is too low, and the small pressure difference is less than 4 bar, consider installing an oil pump.

Reason for the failure of the chiller compressor to unload:

If the valve core of the regulating solenoid valve is blocked or the solenoid valve coil is burnt out, clean or replace the solenoid valve. The piston ring is worn or damaged, and the oil cylinder is damaged, resulting in leakage. Replace the piston (if the oil cylinder is severely damaged, replace the oil cylinder). If the lubricating oil is insufficient, check the oil level in the compressor. If the oil level is insufficient, add an appropriate amount of lubricating oil. If there is internal leakage at the end of the exhaust cover plate, check or replace the gasket, lock bolts, solenoid valve control voltage error, and check the control voltage. Adjust if the piston is stuck, replace the piston device, check the oil cylinder and slide valve.

The common reasons why the chiller compressor does not operate are as follows:

  1. Check the main circuit first. For example, whether the power supply has power, whether the voltage is normal, whether the starting overload blows the fuse, whether the air switch trips, whether the switch contacts are in good condition, and whether the power supply lacks phase. Observe the Voltmeter and ammeter when starting. When there is no ammeter or Voltmeter for the chiller, the power supply can be checked with a multimeter or tester. When the power supply voltage is too low, the compressor cannot start.

  2. For piston refrigeration compressors, is there a shaft holding device. This may be due to the high exhaust temperature during previous operation, or it may be due to the coking of lubricating oil, which causes the cylinder and piston to stick together and prevents the compressor from starting.

  3. Check the differential pressure relay and the high and low voltage relay. When the oil pressure of the compressor is abnormal, it can be stopped. At the same time, when the discharge pressure and suction pressure of the compressor are abnormal, the compressor cannot start or will quickly stop running after starting.

  4. Check whether the temperature of chilled water and cooling water is normal. When the water volume is small and the water temperature is high, the condensation pressure rises sharply and the evaporation temperature drops rapidly. Due to the protective facilities of the unit, the unit often shuts down quickly.

  5. Check if the relevant solenoid valves and regulating valves are faulty and whether they are opened or closed as required.

  6. Check if there is any leakage of working fluid or adjustment error in the temperature measurement bag of the temperature relay.
